Borrowing and Renewing Books

To borrow books, patrons must present a valid I.D. card with a library barcode. Books are charged out and returned to the Circulation Desk.

Books, except Reference books, can circulate for a three-week period. They may be renewed if there is no previous request for them. The book will then be held at the Circulation Desk for three days.

Reserve Material

Materials placed on reserve by faculty members are so indicated in the automated catalog.

Reserve materials are used in the Library for a period of one hour.

Unless a faculty member stipulates otherwise, a student may borrow reserve materials overnight. No more than 2 reserve items per student may be taken overnight.

Commuters may pick up overnight reserve materials as early as 4:30 p.m. Residents may call for overnight items as early as 11:30 p.m.

Overnight reserves must be returned the next day no later than 9:00 a.m. A fine of up to $2.00 per day will be charged for each item if late. Materials taken overnight on Saturday must be returned by 10:00a.m. on Sunday.

Use WebCat, the library's catalog to find items on reserve:

  1. From the Webcat Start Screen, click the blue Reserve Desk link above the first red bar. The page shown in the image below will appear.

  2. The screen shows three choices: instructor, course number, course name.
  3. Type the information in the search box and click the appropriate button:
  • Example:
    • o'donnell click INSTRUCTOR
    • ISP348 click COURSE NUMBER
    • Multimedia Concepts click COURSE NAME

Use the information on the screen to help you describe to the librarian the materials you need from the reserve desk.
